They are saying:
Our very first SHOP&GO store uses state-of-the-art technology so you can shop faster and easier without queues. You’ll find all your favourite groceries, toiletries and alcohol inside, at the Aldi prices you love, without a till in sight!
But only if you have access to smart phone and consent being filmed and having us sell your data to nefarious actors.
Otherwise you may as well die !
This is what digital discrimination looks like. This is what communism is all about.
It is access to food that they will use to kill you off.
ALDI SHOP&GO RESTRICTIONS
8.1. The products available in our ALDI SHOP&GO Stores may differ from those in normal ALDI Stores.
8.2. We may limit the number of individual products that can be purchased in ALDI SHOP&GO Stores or via the ALDI SHOP&GO App. These restrictions will be shown in store and/or via the ALDI SHOP&GO App.
8.3. We may restrict or terminate your use of the ALDI SHOP&GO App, or ask you to leave an ALDI SHOP&GO Store, if we believe your use of the App or behaviour in store is fraudulent, malicious or otherwise unacceptable.
Limit & restrict/ terminate = Communism on plain sight
12.2. Privacy Notice: For details of how we will collect and process any personal data which we collect via this App, please see our Privacy Notice (which is available in the ALDI SHOP&GO App).
So you have to consent to download the App sharing your data before you know what the private policy is about and therefore who gets access to your data.
You know what to do. I have a few ideas:
Email Customer Services here and here
Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office here about their lack of data transparency
Complain to the Competition & Market Authority their regulator here about their discriminatory practices
Protect your future food supply today !
And Aldi's formal response to me...
Good morning
I am writing regarding your correspondence addressed to our CEO, Giles Hurley who has reviewed your email and asked me to respond on his behalf.
Thank you for contacting Aldi regarding our Greenwich Shop & Go Store, I appreciate the time taken to do so.
Our checkout-free store in London is a world first for Aldi - it allows customers to put their shopping directly into their bags and leave the store without visiting a till. It does this by automatically detecting when products are taken from or returned to the shelves. They are all added to a virtual basket and once customers have finished their shop they can leave the store; their receipt will be visible via the app.
The Store is a trial site that has been open for over a year and has been very popular with customers; however, I appreciate that this shopping experience isn’t for everyone and would like to advise that there are currently no plans to extend this to other Aldi stores. At Aldi we pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible to all and this remains at the heart of all future plans too. There are two traditional Aldi Stores within the Greenwich area so should a Greenwich based customer prefer this way of shopping they are not at any disadvantage.
Yours sincerely
