Apparently there is no vaccine (yet) for the encephalitis caused by the Nipah virus so…..I feel a distinct lack of science in my gut.

Why am I talking aboout the Nipah virus?

A related virus named Hendra emerged in 1994 in Australia. Also carried by bats, Hendra causes fatal disease, especially in humans and horses. Together, Hendra and Nipah form the new Henipavirus genus of the Paramyxoviridae, a family of negative-strand RNA viruses that includes measles, mumps, and human respiratory syncytial virus.

The new virus is part of the same genus (Langya henipavirus (LayV))
